Jaea Chang (장재아, pronounced Jae-a) is a ceramic artist from South Korea focusing on contemporary ceramics. With a background in graphic design, Chang transitioned into the field of contemporary craft, following her deep interest in material-based practices.
Her work explores handmade aesthetics through delicately handled materials, and the interplay between form, process, and technique serves as the foundation for the stories, concepts, and visual languages embedded in her creations.
Chang holds a bachelor’s degree from Kookmin University and a master’s degree from Seoul National University in South Korea, both in Visual Communication Design. In 2020, she completed her Master’s studies at Aalto University in Finland, majoring in Contemporary Design. Since 2018, she has been living and working in Helsinki.
