Still Moments
The intricate method of Nerikomi has gradually allowed me to recognize the value of repetitive labour and the time dedicated to the craftwork. Building on my reflections on time, Still Moments is an ongoing project since 2024 that attempts to hold onto moments and emotions that might otherwise be lost. The individually crafted Nerikomi ceramic slabs are assembled with metal strings to create a large-scale hanging installation, which, for me, evokes a collection of suspended moments in time. Hundreds of ceramic pieces, seemingly flowing in the air, give the impression of movement without actual motion. The title Still Moments comes from this idea—the viewer is invited to pause and experience a brief moment of connection with the work, perhaps recalling a memory from their own life.
